According to DVCNews.com, DVC has increased its direct sale prices by $5 per point on most older resorts, effective as of March 8, 2017. Points at Bay Lake Tower, the Grand Californian and the Grand Floridian are now going to cost $185 per point. The very popular Beach Club Villas is up to $165 per point and at the low end of the spectrum, Hilton Head Resort and Vero Beach Resort are up to $115 per point.
A new member purchasing direct from Disney is required to buy a minimum of 100 points at one of the new resorts or can purchase as few as 50 points at one of the older resorts. Existing owners who have purchased either by resale or direct, can purchase an add-on contract as small as 25 points. Point minimums, prices, and promotions can change so its best to contact DVC for the most current offerings.
The older DVC resorts are “sold-out” and in order to purchase direct from Disney, buyers will typically be required to join a wait-list. The other option is to purchase via the resale market. When purchasing resale you can buy as few as 25 points as a first-time buyer. While there are restrictions when buying resale, most owners feel the savings and expanded purchase options far outweigh the “extra” benefits offered with a direct-buy.
