Five Reasons Why You Should Choose Disney’s Polynesian Resort

Step into a little piece of paradise at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Surrounded by tropical flora, this visually appealing retreat makes you feel as if your are vacationing in Polynesia. I spent one terrific night in a highly recommended studio room in the Pago Pago Building. Here are five reasons why you should choose this Disney Vacation Club resort.
1. Location
Grab a monorail from the resort’s main entrance or take a quick walk to the Magic Kingdom Transportation and Ticket location to hop on the monorail or take a ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom. Here you can also catch a monorail to Epcot, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
At night, stroll over to the resort’s beach for a glimpse of Cinderella’s castle and an awesome view of Magic Kingdom’s spectacular fireworks show. We were lucky to see a “Hallowishes” on our night stay!
2. Room Features
There are two features I really liked about the studio room, the bathrooms and the pull down bed.
Smaller guests will enjoy their slumber in the pull down bed located under the television. This bed features an overhead light and a cute picture of sleeping Lilo and Stich.
There are two bath areas in the studio, one includes a sink, toilet, and a shower/tub combo with a retractable clothes line feature. The other bath area includes a sink and an amazing shower with a rain shower head.
3. Swimming Pools
If you enjoy swimming or just lounging in the sun, this resort will accommodate you with not one, but two pools. My favorite of the two being the Lava Pool which includes a waterfall, a “volcano”, and a 142 foot water slide. There is also a close by kiddie water play area. Thirsty or hungry, no worries, this pool includes an outdoor bar and food service. Bathrooms and showers are conveniently located by the pool inside the volcano. Our checkout time was at 11am but we were able to utilize the pool until we were ready to leave. Early check-ins may also do the same with your complimentary Magic Band.
4. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto
Located in a hidden corner of the resort, this hole in the wall bar is full of fun surprises and collectible mugs too. Named after the head salesman on the Disney Jungle Cruise, this lounge has limited space so get there early (4pm) or be prepared to wait your turn. The ambience of the lounge is pretty cool, at least I think so, with special effects drink orders to sinking bar stools. It’s definitely not your average watering hole experience.
5. Dole Whips
Last, but not least, the Dole Whip. Do you like pineapple? Do you like soft serve ice cream? If you said yes to both then you’ll love the Dole Whip. Although not actually ice cream, this dairy-free frozen treat comes in several options. I recommend the vanilla and pineapple swirl. Nothing could be finer than this cool treat on a hot Florida day.
Are you convinced yet? You can’t go wrong with picking the Polynesian Resort for your next trip, or better yet – purchase points for annual use. Talk with us today about becoming an owner at this wonderful Disney Vacation Club resort!
