Disney Vacation Club’s recent December 2024 Condominium Association meetings provided updates on upcoming refurbishments across several resorts. Here’s a rundown of the key refurbishment details shared during the meetings:
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas
- Full Villa Refurbishment: Scheduled to begin October 2025, starting with Kidani Village, followed by Jambo House.
- Design Updates: Pull-down Murphy-style sofa beds confirmed for new room designs.
- Community Spaces: The Kidani Village lobby and Community Hall will also undergo updates, with the entire Kidani refurbishment expected to conclude by mid-2026.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- In-Progress Refurbishment: Rooms are being updated in stages, with the first set of rooms expected to open to guests within weeks. The entire refurbishment is scheduled to take over a year.
- Room Features:
- Murphy-style pull-down sofa beds added to all rooms.
- One-bedroom and Two-bedroom villas gain a twin sleeper; Studios maintain their 4-guest capacity.
- USB ports and interactive TVs are being added, with room layouts otherwise unchanged.
- Skybridge Closure: The Skybridge will be temporarily closed starting January 2025 as part of the refurbishment. During this phase, guests will need to access the Contemporary Tower at ground level.
- Lobby and Community Hall: Updates are planned for both spaces; the Top of the World Lounge will not be changed.
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Smaller-Scale Refresh: Scheduled to start in late Spring 2025, focusing on updates like new fabrics, artwork, curtains, and an updated color palette with more Disney character theming.
- Project Scope: About 12–16 villas will be refurbished at a time, and the entire project is expected to take about a year.
- Murphy Beds: A decision has yet to be made on whether Murphy-style sofa beds will be added to the rooms.
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel
- Smaller-Scale Refresh: Scheduled to begin in early 2025, expected to be completed quickly due to the building’s smaller size of 48 villas.
- Design Updates: This will be the first hard goods refurbishment for the 15-year-old resort. Pull-down Murphy-style sofa beds are anticipated to be part of the room updates.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Soft Goods Refresh: This is planned for 2026 and is expected to be a soft goods refurbishment following the resort’s more extensive renovation in 2018-2019.
- Design Updates: While not confirmed, pull-down Murphy beds might be added to some rooms.
These projects are subject to change as plans evolve, but they demonstrate Disney Vacation Club’s commitment to enhancing member experiences across its resort portfolio.
