Disney’s New Commercial Renting Policy (And How We’re Different)

By Kristen Tutas / June 10, 2025

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) recently released an update to their booking Terms and Conditions, effective June 1, 2025, which includes significant changes surrounding renting DVC points. These changes are designed to curb large-scale rental activity, something that’s been a growing concern for Disney Vacation Club and its Members.

You can read the full Terms and Conditions here:

When completing a points reservation booking on the DVC member site, owners must now check a box and attest to the following statement: “I agree to the Disney Vacation Club Terms and Conditions, and I attest that this reservation is for personal use only.”

What’s Changing?

While Disney has always allowed members to rent their points occasionally, the updated terms more clearly define personal use and restrict “commercial renting”— which includes high-volume or profit-driven point rentals that may resemble business activity.

Key highlights from the new policy include:

  • Limits on high-volume rentals and patterns that appear to be for business purposes rather than personal use.
  • Language that reinforces DVC’s right to take action if a membership is used in a way that violates the principles of ownership.
  • Greater scrutiny of owner-brokers who sell thousands of pre-booked reservations.

This has naturally caused concern among owners who rent their points, and rightly so, especially those who rely on rentals to offset annual dues or maximize unused points.

How We’re Different

We are first and foremost a DVC resale company, assisting owners who need to sell their membership and buyers looking to purchase a contract. Our rental department formed in 2020, at the request of our owner-base who could not use their points for a period of time and needed a trusted company to assist them.

At Vacation Club Life, we’ve always operated with the utmost respect for DVC’s policies and the spirit of the membership program. Here’s how we stand apart:

✔ We Work With Real DVC Owners
We don’t own large blocks of points hidden in various names or shell companies. Instead, we act as a trusted intermediary between individual owners and guests. Every rental goes through our personalized, transparent process, with both parties informed and protected.

✔ We Build Long-Term Relationships
Our focus goes beyond one-time rentals. Many of our customers have worked with us over the years as their vacation needs change, whether they’re purchasing their first contract, adding points, or deciding it’s time to sell. Our personalized, one-on-one service is designed to support you through every stage of DVC ownership—not just a single transaction.

✔ Compliance Is Our Priority
We’re staying up to date with all policy changes and adjusting our internal processes as needed. Our goal is to protect your membership and help you rent un-used points responsibly, within Disney’s guidelines, while ensuring all guest reservations are secure.

What Should You Do Next?

If you’re an owner who rents out your points, whether occasionally or more regularly, it’s important to:

  1. Review the updated Terms and Conditions, especially pages 8 and 10.
  2. Stay informed on what qualifies as commercial activity.
  3. Reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

We’re committed to helping you navigate these changes with confidence and clarity. Whether you want to continue renting your points, pause for now, or simply need guidance, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
